Why use treatments?

1. A waterfall filled with tap water will accumulate mineral deposits over time.
   
2. Algae grows in water that is exposed to light. Once algae grows, it must be scrubbed off. A water treatment will prevent the growth of algae in your waterfall, keeping routine maintenance simple.

Do I Need to Use Distilled Water in my Water Feature?

Distilled water does not contain minerals, which may build up in the water feature over time. Mineral deposits not only give the unit a dirty appearance, but they force the pump to work harder; shortening its lifespan.

Calcium, mineral and hard water deposits are hard to remove from water features. Taking steps to prevent these from forming in your water feature is less time-consuming than scrubbing it. Protec and Fountec are two treatments recommended by the experts at Tropics North Studios.
